# Search 314,779 Kansas WWC-5 water well records

> Search the Kansas water well completion records by WWC-5 number, county or drilling contractor.

## Search the register

The WWC-5 record number if you have it. Otherwise the county or the contractor who drilled the well.

### What comes back

One record, with the answer first: whether a plugging report was ever
filed. Then the water use, the depth, the static level, the yield, the
contractor, and the DWR water-right number where the well has one.

Nothing is searched on our servers — the index is a set of static
files and the lookup runs in your browser, which is why an individual record
has no address of its own and cannot be indexed as a page about a
property.

### ⚠️ Why you cannot search by address

Because a Kansas well is not located by one. It is located by its
**legal description** — township, range, section, quarter
calls — which is what a deed carries. That description is on the
record, and it is deliberately not on any page of this site: these are rural
parcels, which means homes.

### ⚠️ What a blank does not mean

- **Not that there is no well.** Wells drilled before the
reporting requirement, and wells whose paperwork never reached the Survey,
leave no record at all.
- **Not that a well is abandoned.** No plugging report means
the State was never told the well was sealed. Kansas defines abandonment by
use, and this register does not track use.
- **Not that the water is safe.** A WWC-5 describes a well on the day it was drilled. It says nothing about whether the water is safe to drink, whether the well still produces, or what condition it is in today.

This is an independent copy, not the register. The Survey recommends that its data be taken directly from a KGS server rather than through another site that may have changed it — for anything a transaction depends on, use theirs.
